Kangana at Special Screening of ‘Manikarnika’ for President Kovind

A special screening of Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi was held for the President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on Friday evening. The special event was attended by Kangana Ranaut, CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi, who has also written the dialogues and lyrics of the film, story and screenplay writer Vijayendra Prasad, senior BJP leader LK Advani and others.

The cast and crew of the film were felicitated by President Kovind after the screening of the film.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is directed by Krish and has Kangana Ranaut playing the role of Rani Laxmi Bai.

The biopic on Rani Laxmi Bai is scheduled to release on 25 January, as a special Republic Day event. Besides Kangana Ranaut, Manikarnika also features Ankita Lokhande, Danny Denzongpa, Atul Kulkarni and Jishu Sengupta in important roles.

There were earlier reports that the Karni Sena had issues with the film and were going to protest against its release. However, recently the national spokesperson of the Karni Sena, Dr Himanshu, told IANS that they are not opposing Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
