The makers of Kalank have been teasing the first looks of the film’s characters. Kalank is reportedly slated to release on 17 April 2019.

Madhuri Dixit plays ‘Bahaar Begum’, an ‘enchanting’ character who would rather find herself all alone, than rather to be cast in someone else’s shadow.

Sonakshi Sinha plays the character of ‘Satya’, a woman who stands for “love, longing, integrity and sacrifice”.

Alia Bhatt plays the character of Roop, a woman “free, bound only by love.”

Another poster features Aditya Roy Kapur sporting a determined expression. Aditya plays Dev Chaudhry, and is described as “a sprinting mind with a noble heart.” Take a look.

Playing the role of Zafar in the film, Varun’s character is being touted as a brave hero with a “fearless fire of flamboyance in his eyes” who flirts with life and danger in a larger-than-life world created in Kalank.

Karan Johar earlier shared a glimpse of his upcoming period film Kalank along with a heartfelt note dedicated to his father Yash Johar. “A film that was born in my heart and mind 15 years ago... a film I passionately believe in... the last film my father worked on before he left us... it was his dream to see this film come through... I couldn’t fulfil his dream then... my spirit was broken... but today his wish has found a relationship with celluloid...” he wrote.

He described the film as a “story of turbulent relationships and eternal love” that is set in the 1940s. Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank features an ensemble cast of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Aditya Roy Kapur.

Varun Dhawan had earlier posted a photo of himself and Alia Bhatt to his Instagram as a teaser.
