Richa Chadha and Kalki Koechlin presumably have the same name in Howard Rosemeyer’s road trip film Jia Aur Jia, to bring out the stark differences in their personalities. Kalki’s character is bohemian and lives life on the edge while Richa is playing a banker babe who only takes well calculated decisions. Jia Aur Jia looks like a regular chick-flick with Richa Chadha in too much makeup.
This story of two girls on a journey to womanhood also stars newcomer Arslan Goni. While the trailer suggests a rather predictable story, here’s hoping that its powerhouse female actors end up selling a deeper message than ‘life is beautiful’.
The film has been shot extensively in Sweden. To its credit, Jia Aur Jia looks like a rare story of women coming of age, that might carry a bold message, relevant to the post Queen world.
Here’s hoping that this kahaani some an interesting twist too.
Jia Aur Jia will hit theatres on October 27, 2017.
