The two rising stars of the Hindi film industry, Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter were all smiles as they made their way through paparazzi flashbulbs into a ballroom filled with members of the press at a suburban five-star hotel in Mumbai. Also present were mentor-producer Karan Johar and director Shashank Khaitan.
For some reason I am feeling more nervous than during the trailer launch.Janhvi Kapoor
The nervous debutant seemed much more confident today as she stood tall on her pearl-white pointed heels at Dhadak’s success meet. Donning an uber chic Dolce & Gabbana multi-coloured Mambo print off-shoulder peasant dress, Janhvi was dressed to kill. After all, her debut film just broke several records.
Speaking of which, let us tell you guys what happened inside this press conference dedicated to the success of Dhadak. To begin with, KJo (who sure seems to have lost a lot of weight) set the ball rolling by mentioning all over again that Dhadak pays homage to Sairat and should be seen that way. The film has after all, received a lot of flak received for remaking a classic.
After being teased by Karan Johar for his sartorial style once again, Shashank Khaitan expressed his happiness on the success of the film.
I am happy with all the love, I am happy with all the hate.Shashank Khaitan
Moving on to the lead players of the show, Janhvi and Ishaan revealed that their happiest moment was when they went to Gaeity Galaxy, a single screen theatre in Bandra, Mumbai where they watched the film with their fans. “I enjoyed most during that moment,” said Ishaan and Janhvi agreed. When asked if she had received any advice from her family, Janhvi quipped:
My family told me to not do any remake for some time.Janhvi Kapoor
When questioned about how she felt after reading a positive or negative review of herself, Janhvi revealed, “I did a YAY 100 times when they praised me and secretly cried in the bathroom when it was a nay.”
And then of course, in the presence of Karan Johar, how could we not ask Ishaan and Janhvi about their views on being labelled as 'star kids'. So Janhvi said, "I have a long way to go. One hit film doesn't mean I am successful. There is a lot more I need to do to earn love, affection and acceptance from the people.”
Ishaan played the humble child as well, as he pointed out:
I am happy that people are accepting and loving my character (in the film). I believe it’s people’s prerogative to label us as star kids.Ishaan Khatter
Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, Dhadak is the Hindi remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat. The film surpassed the first day collections of another Dharma Production film - Student Of The Year (which marked the Bollywood debut of Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan). Dhadak is now Bollywood's highest grosser with newcomers.
