Adding to Bollywood’s list of biopics is Imtiaz Ali’s next project. A popular daily has reported that the Jab Harry Met Sejal director will be making a film on the life of popular Bollywood actor Madhubala. Ali has reportedly acquired the rights for the same from the late actor’s family. However, there is no clarity on whether this project will be a film or a web series.
A trade source told Asian Age that the rights have been acquired from a company called Madhubala Ventures Pvt. Ltd.
No official announcement has been made yet, however a source from the industry spoke to Asian Age and confirmed that the project is indeed in the works. Especially because of Madhubala’s life is full of interesting stories that deserve to be told.
A trade source told Asian Age that the rights have been acquired from a company called Madhubala Ventures Pvt. Ltd. The company is owned by Madhubala’s family. The acquisition has been made by Ali’s production house Window Seat films LLP under a Life Story Rights Assignment Agreement.
Madhubala’s real name was Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi. However, she is popularly known by her stage name ‘Madhubala’.
While there is no certain news about who will get the opportunity to play the iconic actor on screen, Madhubala’s sister, Madhur Brij Bhushan, personally wants Kareena Kapoor Khan to essay the role. She had mentioned this during the unveiling of Madhubala’s wax statue in Delhi in Delhi.
Madhubala’s real name was Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi. However, she is popularly known by her stage name ‘Madhubala’. She passed away on 23 February 1969. She was often compared with Hollywood actor Marilyn Monroe. In her lifetime she received only one Filmfare nomination for her performance in Mughal-e-Azam.
