Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-starrer action thriller War is unstoppable at the box office. The film has earned Rs 208.05 crore in a week since its release on 2 October.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Dusshera holiday on Tuesday, 8 October, gave the film a boost during which it earned Rs 27.5 crores.
War is now the third highest grossing Hindi film of 2019, having surpassed the lifetime business of both Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal and Salman Khan’s Bharat. It earned over Rs 50 crores on its opening day alone and hit Rs 100 crores by day 3.
War crossed several benchmarks in the first five days since it hit theatres, and is the highest opener for its stars Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff and director Siddharth Anand.
War is the story of an Indian soldier, Khalid (Tiger), who is assigned to eliminate a senior agent and his mentor Kabir (Hrithik) as he has gone rogue. It is directed by Siddharth Anand and also stars Vaani Kapoor.
Even before the release of the film, trade analysts expected it to do well on the first day. Film trade analyst Atul Mohan had put the day one figure at around Rs 40 crore. Clearly, War has surpassed that expectation by a huge margin.
