Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer Gully Boy has earned Rs 118.35 crores at the box office as of day 11, reports trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The film made Rs 18.05 crore over its second weekend.
On 21 February, Adarsh observed that the Zoya Akhtar directorial received strong support from the metro cities since its premiere but overall saw “weak mass circuits”. Box office figures on day 7 stood at Rs 95.20 crores.
The movie collected Rs 8.65 crore by 18 February, the first Monday since its opening weekend, taking its total collections to Rs 81.10 crore.
The box office collections of Gully Boy witnessed a dip on day 2 at Rs 13.10 crore but crossed Rs 50 crore on day 3.
Gully Boy hit theatres on 14 February and was off to a promising start. According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, the film collected Rs 19.40 crore at the box office on day 1.
The Zoya Akhtar directorial had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival on 9 February and has been receiving praise for sensitively shining a light on issues such as class, minorities and inequality. Ranveer Singh, who plays the lead in the film, and newcomer Siddhant Chaturvedi have especially been lauded for their performances.
Loosely based on the lives of homegrown rappers Divine and Naezy, Gully Boy tells the story of Murad, an aspiring rapper from Mumbai’s slums who dreams of making it big and escaping his working class existence. It has been produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Productions.
