‘Gold’ First Look: Akshay Kumar Turns 50 With the Midas Touch

Gold is a biopic on hockey player Balbir Singh, who helped win the first Olympic medal for India in 1948.

Akshay Kumar is turning 50 tomorrow (9 September) and he has decided to ring it in with the first look of his upcoming film Gold. Directed by Reema Kagti, Gold is a biopic on hockey player Balbir Singh, who was on the team that won the first Olympic medal for India as a free nation in 1948.

Akshay tweeted that as he turns gold - that is touches half century - this is a film close to his heart. Gold also stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor and Amit Sadh. Predictably, it would release on Independence Day next year.
