1. Narendra Modi Biopic to Release During Beginning of Elections

PM Narendra Modi, an upcoming biopic on India’s incumbent prime minister, will release on 12 April. The date coincides with the country’s general elections, which commence from 11 April.

Directed by Omung Kumar (Mary Kom, Sarabjit), the film follows Narendra Modi’s journey to becoming India’s prime minister. It stars Vivek Oberoi as Modi and features Boman Irani, Manoj Joshi, Darshan Kumaar, Prashant Narayanan and Zarina Wahab. It has been produced Sandip Ssingh, Anand Pandit and Suresh Oberoi.

2. Parineeti Replaces Shraddha in Saina Nehwal Biopic

After halting shooting for Amole Gupte’s upcoming biopic on badminton champion Saina Nehwal due to a bout of dengue, Shraddha Kapoor has dropped out of the film. The role will now be essayed by Parineeti Chopra.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Shraddha forfeited the role due to a tight schedule. She is currently filming for Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment’s Chhinchhore and Street Dancer with Baaghi 3expected to go on floors soon. She also stars alongside Prabhas in action-thriller Saaho, which releases in August.

3. Alia Bhatt Launches Teaser for Mom’s Film ‘No Fathers in Kashmir’

Alia Bhatt, who brought in her 26th birthday on Friday with her close friends and actor Ranbir Kapoor, was ecstatic about launching the teaser of her mother Soni Razdan's No Fathers In Kashmir.

"What a great birthday gift mum Soni Razdan gave me! The teaser of 'No Fathers In Kashmir' by India's youngest Oscar nominated director Ashvin Kumar. Girl from London meets boy from Kashmir. What a stunning pair these teens make - just can't wait to see it," Alia tweeted along with the film's teaser.

4. Ayushmann, Dinesh Vijan Accused of Plagiarism, Case Filed

Ayushmann Khurrana has found himself in legal trouble over one of his upcoming films, Bala. The actor, producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik have been accused by Kamal Kant Chandra – who has worked as an assistant director on films such as Daav Dev and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana – of lifting the idea for Bala from his project Wig.

According to a report by Nav Bharat Times, Chandra claims to have sent them a legal notice and upon receiving no response has filed a case against the trio in the Bombay High Court.

5. Big B, Sachin, Arbaaz Pray For Injured in Mumbai Bridge Collapse

Following the tragic incident where a footover bridge near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) collapsed, killing at least six and injuring over 30, celebrities across the Indian film industry and sports industry took to social media to express their grievances.

Connecting the CSMT's suburban platform No1 with the B T Lane near The Times of India Building and the Anjuman-e-Islam School, the footover bridge was used by thousands of daily suburban commuters rushing to catch the local trains on Central Railway and the Harbour Line. While the Mumbai Police registered cases of negligence against BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Indian Railway officials, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced Rs 5 lakh ex gratia each to the kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured, besides a high-level probe into the incident.
