Emraan Hashmi’s Cheat India, which was set to release on 25 January, 2019, will now release a week earlier. It has been preponed to 18 January on Shiv Sena’s request, who want Thackeray to be a single release, according to media reports.
Emraan Hashmi earlier shared the trailer to his upcoming film Cheat India, which explores corruption in the Indian education system. In the film, he plays the role of Rakesh Singh, a man who runs what appears to be a massive entrance exam scam across various sectors like engineering and banking. “Upar wala dua kabul karta hai; main sirf cash leta hun, (God grants wishes; I only take cash),” he says.
The trailer, coming with the tagline of the film: Nakal mein hi akal hai, shows Emraan playing a refreshingly regular, non-OTT scamster who knows what he wants and has no hang-ups.

The film has been written and directed by Soumik Sen and also stars Shreya Dhanwanthary. It has been produced by T-Series, Emraan Hashmi Films and Atul Kasbekar’s Ellipsis Entertainment.
Emraan had also shared the poster of the film earlier.
