Deepika Padukone is reportedly up to massive things. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Deepika is following up Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat with another biggie - Bollywood’s first female superhero franchise.
Apparently modelled on Hollywood’s Gal Gadot-starrer Wonder Woman franchise is ostensibly a dynamic, sci-fi tale.
Deepika’s avatar is being fashioned after Gal Gadot’s in Wonder Woman. The developments have been kept under wraps with a creative team holding discreet meetings with Deepika on a regular basis. Presently, a running bid is on for Rs 300 crore among multiple investors...The 32-year-old-actress will begin training extensively in mixed martial arts and different styles of hand-to-hand combat. Since this is a first-of-its-kind mega project, the timelines for pre-production will be long and the project will go on the floors next year.A source told Mumbai Mirror
Deepika is understandably taking keen interest in the intricacies of the project. As per the source, the special outfit will be custom-made to facilitate hardcore physical combat and movement.
Apart from making waves at the MET Gala and Cannes, the actor is also involved in Vishal Bhardwaj’s take on the chapter Femme Fatale from Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The project is on hold due to Irrfan Khan’s health, who stars opposite her in the project.
