We may be living in the 21st century but if there’s one thing that never changes in this country it’s the censor board and their tendency of replacing anything that they deem un-sanskaari with flowers. Yup, you read that right. What we thought was an artefact of the 80s and 90s is now back. The Central Board of Film Classification (CBFC) has ordered the makers of the upcoming Ajay Devgn starrer De De Pyaar De to replace a bottle of liquor held by Rakul Preet Singh with a bouquet of flowers.
The scene is question appears in the song ‘Vaddi Sharaban’ and Rakul is seen living up to that title in the video which was released a couple of weeks back. However, the censor board has decided those same visuals which have been playing for a while now are inappropriate and it’s not okay for the ‘Heroine’ to be holding an ‘alcohol bottle.’ It’s surprising they didn’t demand the song be changed to ‘Vaddi Phoolwaali.’
The CBFC has also asked for two other lines of dialogue to be removed from the film. Take a look at all the cuts below.
Considering that the film releases in two days on Friday 17 May, it seems like the filmmakers have simply accepted the board’s decision. We can always look at the ‘uncensored’ video on YouTube.
De De Pyaar De stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu & Rakul Preet Singh. It is directed by Akiv Ali and produced by Luv Ranjan.
