Ayushmann Khurrana has found himself in legal trouble over one of his upcoming films, Bala. The actor, producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik have been accused by Kamal Kant Chandra – who has worked as an assistant director on films such as Daav Dev and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana – of lifting the idea for Bala from his project Wig.

According to a report by Nav Bharat Times, Chandra claims to have sent them a legal notice and upon receiving no response has filed a case against the trio in the Bombay High Court.

Chandra recounted his side of the story to the publication saying that he had visited Rajkummar Rao on the sets of Bareilly Ki Barfi where he met Ayushmann. He shared his idea of a man struggling with premature balding with Ayushmann over WhatsApp. Allegedly the actor invited him to discuss the idea further but never pursued the meeting and announced a project based on a similar idea shortly after.

Responding to the allegations, Amar Kaushik said, “I have no idea about all this. We have been writing the story since 4-5 months. The two characters might be similar, I don’t know. Neither I know his script nor I have ever met him. There can be many stories about a bald man. I have been writing my story since day one. I don’t know anything else. As far as the case is concerned, the producers will look into it.”
