Meghna Gulzar’s Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal-starrer Raazi was one of the big winners of 2018, both in terms of audience reception and box office. The film was considered a perfect example of content over star power as the mid-budget female-led film earned a lot of acclaim especially for Alia Bhatt’s performance in the lead.
It’s a well-known fact that Raazi is an official adaptation of the non-fiction book Calling Sehmat. Now author Harinder Sikka has stated in an interview with Mid-Day that he is writing a sequel that follows the story of Sehmat.
“After I wrote Calling Sehmat in 2008, I spent another 10 years with her, on and off, depending on the little time she gave me. [The book will focus on] how she went into depression after the mission but fought her way out of it. It will reflect her personal journey since her return from Pakistan. The mysteries around her will be decoded in ‘Remembering Sehmat.’”Harinder Sikka
With the book coming soon can a film adaptation be far behind? Harinder shared that he has already discussed the sequel with Alia and the Gully Boy star is definitely interested.
Dharma and Junglee Pictures who produced Raazi have not confirmed any plans for a sequel to the film, but considering its success we should hear more about it soon.
