It does not seem like the controversy surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Padmavati is going to die down soon. In another twist in this magnum-opus, BJP MLA, Ram Kadam, head of Film Studio Setting & Allied Majdoor Union has threatened the makers with the might of the union if the film does not take off or change sequences that distort history and ‘show the Rajputs in bad light’.
He said that he was speaking as the chief of the union and not as a BJP lawmaker.
He categorically said, while addressing a press conference that though he respects the filmmaker, he would be compelled to seek a ban in the given circumstances. He demands that the movie be screened for the people concerned. “Padmavati must be reviewed. It hurts our sentiments,” Kadam said.
BJP MLA Ram Kadam did not mince words while asking Bhansali to remove the 'objectionable scenes' from the film. He warned the makers that if the director does not comply with the demand of the Union, he will make sure that none of his films are released.
