Director Anurag Kashyap has announced on social media that he is starting a new production company and will kick off work on its first film soon. “New company, new film, new beginnings...” he tweeted cryptically.
While the Gangs of Wasseypur director hasn’t made an official announcement yet, word is Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew has been signed on for Kashyap’s next film. Director Geetu Mohandas revealed the news in a Facebook post congratulating Roshan on bagging the project and said that the shoot will commence shortly in Mumbai.
“I’m so proud to announce that my actor and good friend, Roshan Mathew, with his unbelievable performance in Moothon, has landed himself a beautiful project as the lead in none other than the maverick filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s latest. The shoot commences tomorrow in Bombay. I wish you the world, Roshan. This is just the beginning,” she wrote.
Anurag Kashyap’s production house Phantom Films, which he co-founded with Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl in 2011, folded in 2018 shortly after allegations of sexual harassment against were levelled against Bahl and the other founders were accused of complicity in the matter.
Anurag Kashyap announced the production house’s demise with a tweet that read: “Phantom was a dream, a glorious one and all dreams come to an end. We did our best and we succeeded and we failed. But i know for sure we will come out of this stronger, wiser and will continue to pursue our dreams our own individual ways. We wish each other the best.”
