Ayushmann Khurrana’s 2018 starrer Andhadhun has been having a roaring time in China having earned more than 150 crore since its release in the country on 3 April. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the figures indicate that the film has also surpassed its lifetime business in India.

Adarsh noted that the film, which has been titled Piano Player for Chinese audiences, “surpassed all expectations” in its extended weekend, having earned Rs 95.38 crores in just five days.

He had earlier said that Andhadhun found itself off to a flying start and raked in Rs 44.70 crore at the box office in China in the first three days since its release on 3 April.

In comparison, Thugs of Hindostan, which was the last Indian film to release in China, earned a paltry Rs 32.93 crore at the Chinese box office in its first weekend.

Andhadhun has already outdone the lifetime China box office earnings of films such as Baahubali: The Conclusion, Thugs of Hindostan, Sultan, and Padman, which released in 2018. According to reports, it is the eighth highest-grossing Indian film in China after titles like Dangal, Secret Superstar and Hitchki.

How the film will fare in comparison to Sridevi’s Mom, which is scheduled to release in China on 10 May, remains to be seen.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Andhadhun stars Ayushmann Khurrana as a blind pianist whose life is turned upside down after he inadvertently witnesses a murder. It also features Radhika Apte and Tabu.
