‘Kesari’ BO: Akshay’s War Film Joins Rs 100 Crore Club

‘Kesari’ is also the second-biggest opener for Akshay Kumar after ‘Gold’.

Dharma Productions’ Kesari is having a good run at the box office. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer has earned Rs 100.01 crore at the box office in its first week. The film, which released on 21 March, is the fastest Rs 100 crore grosser of 2019 so far, he observed.

On day 1, Kesari collected Rs 21 crore at the box office, which rose to Rs 56.51 crore by day 3.

By its first weekend, it had earned Rs 78.07 crore.

Adarsh confirmed that Kesari is the biggest opener of 2019, surpassing Gully Boy. It is also Akshay Kumar’s second-biggest opener after Gold.

Kesari is a period war film about the Battle of Saragarhi, wherein 21 valiant Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army fought against 10,000 Afghans. Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Dharma Productions, it stars Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra.
