Confirming all rumours, Kesari actor Akshay Kumar has stated that he will be starring in a horror-comedy in the near future, 12 years after the success of Priyadarshan’s Bhool Bhulaaiya.
In a recent interview with Anupama Chopra, Akshay claimed that he is all set to experiment with a host of films of experimental genres, and that he will begin work on a horror-comedy soon.
While the actor did not disclose further details about the horror-comedy, it has gotten fans super excited, after his convincing role as Dr Aditya Shrivastav in the 2007 movie, which also starred Vidya Balan, Paresh Rawal and Amisha Patel.
Earlier, a report by Firstpost had claimed that the actor was soon to sign himself up for the Hindi remake of choreographer-turned-director Raghava Lawrence’s 2011 film Kanchana.
In the movie, Akshay would allegedly play a man who is so afraid of ghosts, who would refuse to step out of his house after sundown. The story then takes a turn when he encounters a transgender ghost who seeks revenge against the ones who destroyed their life.
The report had suggested that Lawrence was considering Amitabh Bachchan for the role of the ghost, who is played by Sarathkumar in the Tamil version.
The film is scheduled to go on floors by April with the makers targeting an early 2020 release. The rest of the cast is to be confirmed shortly.
Akshay Kumar is currently working on multiple projects such as space film Mission Mangal, Good News with Kareena Kapoor and Rohit Shetty’s upcoming cop drama Sooryavanshi.
