It’s the season of biopics and 15 years after The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Ajay Devgn is ready to play another real life character on screen. The Singham star will be playing the titular role in Taanaji - The Unsung Warrior, based on the life of Taanaji Malusare, a trusted general of Maratha leader Shivaji Maharaj.

The film’s director Om Raut debuted Ajay’s look in the film on social media. He can be seen dressed as a warrior with a turbaned head and face partially covered and appears to be launching an attack.

Ajay Devgn had earlier shared a poster from the film.

The poster shows Devgn aka Taanaji in silhouette in the throes of battle and on fire. According to legend, he was entrusted by Shivaji to recapture the Kondana fort from the Mughals and managed to do it with the help of his pet monitor lizards. However, he lost his life in the battle - the Battle of Sinhagad - and Shivaji renamed the fort to Sinhagad (Lion Fort) in memory of his commander.

Incidentally, Devgn was earlier working on Sons Of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi, another historical drama, which has however now been shelved.

The film is slated to release on 22 November.
