One of Hindi cinema’s most popular stunt and action choreographers and Ajay Devgn’s father Veeru Devgan passed away on the morning of 27 May. He had keeping unwell and was admitted to Surya Hospital in Mumbai recently.
Ajay Devgn’s publicists confirmed the news in a statement: “With profound grief and sorrow, we regret to inform that Mr Veeru Devgan, veteran action director and father of Ajay Devgn passed away this morning.
The funeral will be held at a crematorium in Vile Parle West at 6 pm today.
Veeru Devgan had choreographed fight sequences of many iconic films, including Mr Natwarlal, Himmatwala, Kranti, Shahenshah, Tridev, and Phool Aur Kaante, among many others.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, was one of the first ones to offer his condolences on Twitter. “Sad to know that veteran action director #VeeruDevgan ji is no more. He ws a genius in choreographing fights on the big screen, when there were no facilities available. My heart felt condolences to @ajaydevgn & the entire family,” he wrote.
