Two powerful men haunted by their past, two superheroes in conflict and a riveting Wonder Woman – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a perfect appetizer which sets the mood for the main course – The Justice League. But unfortunately, Batman v Superman (BvS) fails the originality test and is just like any other melodramatic Bollywood film. Sigh!
Apology to DC comic-book fans but Batman and Superman are very much like our Karan and Arjun, who hate each others’ guts but their mother’s love brings them together.
Here’s why Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a perfect Bollywood cliche.
Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t watched the film then don’t read this article. Just log in to YouTube and watch Karan Arjun and Deewar and you’ll get what we mean.
Mere Pass Maa Hai!
Batman: Aaj mere paas gaadi hai, bungla hai, paisa hai... tumhare paas kya hai?
Superman: “Mere paas, mere paas... Maa-rtha hai...”
With just lil bit of editing this Deewar dialogue is a perfect fit. Voila!
It’s maa ki mamta or Martha (in this case) that triggered the greatest gladiator match in comic world .
Girl, I Knew You Were Trouble
Unfortunately, the girl you love almost always gets you in trouble.
Look at DDLJ. Shah Rukh Khan travelled to another country, for the sake of love, only to be beaten up by goons. Hero, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, the story is the same and Batman v Superman is no different.
Our dear Superman is not only protecting his adopted world but also saving his lady love, Lois Lane from getting into trouble. Be it in the middle of a desert, on top of a high-rise building or underwater, bechara Superman forgets his duty towards his people and flings his outstretched arms (SRK ishtyle) to save his love.
Ek Tha Villain
For an action movie to be a hit, you need a villain, yo! It’s a ghisa-pita old formula, buy there wouldn’t be a Batman v Superman if there was no Lex Luthor aka desi villain.
The crazy Lex Luthor follows Mogambo, Gabbar Singh, Teja and kidnaps the hero’s mother and girlfriend. What a fine way to get attention, we must say.
Mogambo khush hua!
Alfred Kaka
Alfred kaka is the Alok Nath of Hollywood. Alfred is Batman ka bapuji, who gives free ka advice to his bat-fflick beta. He’s also the gadget guru and knows his shit with the Batmobile.
Wonder Where She Went
She is powerful. She is mysterious. She is gorgeous. But unfortunately, her role ends there. In the film Wonder Woman enters the script and bailos rotis with her eyes only to return for a mere 10 minutes at the end. Yeah, she just did a Kareena Kapoor in Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
