Akshay Kumar’s public service feature film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha got a decent box-office opening on day one with a collection of Rs 13.10 Crore. And by all yardsticks, it looks like it has ended the dry spell of the Bollywood box office and would turn into another major money-spinner for Akshay.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha collected Rs 17.10 crore on day 2, notching up total earnings to Rs 30.20 crore. Riding on word of mouth publicity, the Akshay Kumar-Bhumi Pednekar film is expected to rake in around Rs 48 crore in weekend business.

3. Kannada Actor Upendra Rao to Enter Politics and Float Party

Taking a break from reel life, Kannada film superstar Upendra, on 12 August, announced he was entering politics and would float a new party soon to serve the people without the burden of caste, religion and discrimination. Speaking to reporters, he said:

4. ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ Screened for 13,000 Underprivileged Kids

Over 13,000 economically less privileged children today attended the screening of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha in various multiplexes in Kolkata.
