Diwali coinciding with a Sunday, didn’t do too well for the two big Friday releases - Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay. Both the films saw a drop in their collections on Diwali day with people preferring to stay at home or visit friends and celebrate, rather than head to a cinema hall.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s ticket earnings dropped to Rs 9.20 crore after a sustained Rs 13 crore collection on Friday and Sunday.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
- Friday: Rs 13.30 cr
- Saturday: Rs 13.10 cr
- Sunday: Rs 9.20 cr
Similarly Shivaay’s box-office collections too slowed down on Sunday to just Rs 8.26 crore.
Shivaay
- Friday: Rs 10.24 cr
- Saturday: Rs 10.06 cr
- Sunday: Rs 8.26 cr
While the box-office should look up for both films on Monday, with a budget of over Rs 100 crore, things don’t look too rosy for Shivaay at the moment.
Karan Johar’s film though has got a bumper response overseas. According to reports, ADHM has raked in over Rs 40 crore abroad, which is both Johar and Ranbir’s biggest overseas weekend numbers till date. Will the box-office numbers for ADHM trump that of Johar’s last release Student of the Year? Watch this space.
