Late actress Nanda has found herself in the headlines once again on account of her will. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the veteran actress who has been a part of immortal films like Jab Jab Phool Khile, Gumnaam and Ittefaq, left a will which has been challenged by her family in court.
In a will which was drawn in 2011, the actress left most of her property including a triplex apartment in Versova to a trust and almost nothing to her siblings and their children. Nanda passed away in 2014 after a heart attack.
As per the report, Nanda’s chartered accountant and business partner Nargis Hirji were in charge of the execution of her will, which the actress’ family now claims is fake. The family has filed a suit in the Bombay High Court claiming that Nanda had no reason to appoint her CA and business partner to look after the estate she left behind because she was close to her siblings. The movable and immovable property caught in the midst of the legal battle is huge and includes:
- A sea-facing triplex apartment in Versova
- A commercial space in Four Bungalows
- Land in Shahpur (Thane)
- Jewellery, silverware
- Stocks, cash, bank deposits
- Other movables worth over Rs 20 crore
In their defence, Shah and Hirji have claimed that Nanda was closer to them than to her siblings because her brothers did not take care of her.
Yet, despite the legal battle, the two sides have mutually agreed to look for a tenant for Nanda’s Versova apartment which is under dispute!
