Abhay Deol made some strong points on the sidelines of MAMI Film Festival when he questioned the ban on Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been facing intense resistance from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. The political party has been giving open threats to vandalise any theatre found screening the film.
If you want to ban anything to do with Pakistan, then go the distance. Don’t just ban the filmmakers, then ban imports, exports etc. When you do half a job, no one is going to take you seriously. I don’t take the Government seriously. Right now, it’s not looking like you mean it, it just looks like it gets you a lot of publicity and makes noise. Aamir Khan chose to remain neutral on the subject.
Imran Khan, on the other hand, commented that he would not voice his opinion because he feared the violence of the mob.

Director Zoya Akhtar also spoke out against the ban on the film. She also pointed out that Pakistani artistes work in India with valid visas that are issued by the Government.
Kalki Koechlin called the ban “very sad”.
