American pop-icon fans can extend their celebration. After Justin Bieber, they may just be treated to two of the biggest names  of the American entertainment industry in India soon.

As the Indian box-office threatens to explode on June 2 with  the simultaneous release of Priyanka Chopra’s Hollywood debut Baywatch and the long-awaited Marvel screen adaptation of Wonder Woman, their respective studios are thinking of innovative strategies to be one-up  on the other.

And  one  of the  strategies that  both the wannabe blockbusters have thought up of is to get the stars of the two films into India. While  Paramount is planning to fly Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson into India for at least 24 hours if not more (Dwayne, we hear, will be promoting the film across the globe during its release week), Warner Brothers just may persuade ‘Wonder Woman’ Gal Gadot to visit us too.

Says an unnamed source from Viacom 18 Motion  Pictures, “It’s an all-out war  on June 2. We didn’t really want to release Baywatch on the same  day as Wonder Woman. But it’s a company decision and we’ve to abide by it. So yeah, we are planning to get Dwayne in even for a brief visit. We hear Gal Gadot may come to promote Wonder Woman.”

While the two Hollywood biggies sweat it out at the box-office, desi moviegoers can look forward to seeing their favourite stars in India. It’s interesting to recall that Dwayne Johnson’s co-star from The Fate of the Furious, Vin Diesel,  was here in India for the release of  xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, in which Deepika Padukone made her Hollywood debut. With Priyanka making her much-anticipated debut in Hollywood, her Baywatch  co-star Dwayne Johnson has reportedly promised to make time to promote the film back home in India.

That’s a ‘Rock’ solid support for PC.
