Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma’s 2016: Of Heartbreak, Trips & a Jig!

The Quint takes a look at the journey Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma took in 2016.

The cutest couple in town – Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma – have had a habit to be in the news for several years now, and it’s almost impossible for them to go on a secret holiday, although rumour has it, they have gone for such an holiday for new years.

And why not? They have had a terrific 2016 professionally and personally. It will be a fitting end to an extraordinary year for the superstars in their own right.

The Indian Test captain led his team to victory in all Test series this year and notched 1,762 runs across all formats, while Anushka was part of two blockbusters – Sultan and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

However, all wasn’t pretty for the duo at the start of the year. In February, reports had surfaced that the couple had parted ways and it was confirmed when the cricketer unfollowed Anushka on Twitter and Instagram.

As usual, several reasons were floating around for the break-up, but none were ever made clear by Virat or Anushka.

But come April, right after the World T20, the couple went on a dinner date in Mumbai, and they haven’t left each other’s side since.

The Quint takes a look at the wonderful journey the couple took in 2016 – from a secret holiday last year to the alleged break-up to being more comfortable in public – Virat and Anushka have seen it all.

Shame on those people who have been having a go at anushka for the longest time and connecting every negative thing to her. Shame on those people calling themselves educated. Shame on blaming and making fun of her when she has no control over what i do with my sport. If anything she has only motivated and given me more positivity. This was long time coming.
