How He Found His Funny Side

Ssumier is a pucca Dilli da launda who finished his schooling from Modern School before heading off to the Notre Dame university in Perth, Australia for his graduation.

While in Delhi he dabbled in theatre with the likes of Vivek Mansukhani, Sohaila Kapur and Sabina Mehta Jaitly but soon discovered his funny side. And he credits his dad for it. “I have inherited this funny side from my family especially my dad, his sense of humour is awesome,” says the social media star.

Finding Pammi Aunty

On being quizzed about how he zeroed in on the character of Pammi aunty, Ssumier reveals, “Well, one fine day I started ranting a few lines and posted it on Facebook and people starting enjoying them and hence Pammi aunty continued and became famous, it was totally unplanned.”

Psst!
Is Pammi aunty inspired by someone in his family? Or a neighbour perhaps?
Well, we all have a Pammi aunty is our lives, home, neighbour or family so Pammi aunty is amalgamation of all the ladies I have ever come across.

Ssumier’s Inspiration

Ssumier’s favourite movie star is uncannily the tragedy king - Dilip Kumar, but he is also floored by the comic timing of Utpal Dutt and Johnny Walker. And when it comes to stand up comics, it’s Russel Peters who he looks up to.

Five years from now Ssumier hopes to be an inspiration to many and seeing how he has skyrocketed to fame in a matter of months, that wish could very well come true.

Pammi Aunty’s Shot to Fame

Believe it or not, Ssumier started posting his Pammi aunty videos only in May this year. He’s put up around 68 videos so far and the man admits that by the 25th video he realised that his creation was growing popular to the point that they were in fact going viral across the globe (thanks to all the Punjabi NRIs).

From being an obscure Delhi boy to landing a part on a primetime comedy show on Colors in just 4 months, Ssumier sure owes a lot to Pammi aunty. Pairi pauna toh banta hai.
