Actor Sunny Deol met BJP President Amit Shah in Pune on Friday, 19 April, sparking speculation over him joining the party and contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
While the BJP is yet to announce its candidates for three seats in Punjab (Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur), NDTV reported that the party chief met him to convince him to contest from Amritsar.
As told to the television channel, Deol said, "I heard about it. I just met him and we took a photograph, that's it." The original photo was posted by Punjab BJP leader Tarun Rathi.
In Punjab, the BJP has aligned with Shiromani Akali Dal and will be fighting on three out of 13 parliamentary seats in the state.
There were reports of the BJP considering Poonam Dhillon and Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina for Amritsar.
NDTV also reported that in Gurdaspur, the BJP might consider late actor Vinod Khanna's wife Kavita or his son, actor Akshaye Khanna.
Sunny Deol's father Dharmendra is currently campaigning for wife Hema Malini in Mathura.
Punjab will be voting in a single phase on 19 May.
