Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Srinagar to lay foundation stones for development projects seems to have made him happy, if no one else. A video of an apparently jubilant Modi taking a ferry ride on the Dal Lake is proof. But wait, who is he waving at in the video?
According to reports, the entire valley observed a shutdown as the PM visited Jammu, Ladakh and Srinagar. Shops and fuel stations were closed and public transport was off the roads in Srinagar.
And just like the Ladakhi ‘topi’ that invited a few laughs...
...the ‘wave’ also gave Twitterati reason to troll Modi.
Modi was let down by the camera person, former J&K CM Omar Abdullah thought. The camera person did a huge disservice by not showing “all the people furiously waving back,” his tweet said.
The video got Twitter users confused and amused at the same time. While some were ‘not sure’ about the recipients of the ‘wave’...
...others were of the opinion that since he is Modi, he can wave at anything.
Some pointed out the irony that the Prime Minister’s visit that was aimed at development and dialogue, just created another curfew-like situation in Kashmir.
One tweet perfectly summed up the sentiments of Kashmiris towards Modi’s visit.
Looks like the Modi ‘wave’ has not managed to sweep over the valley yet.
