War of words broke out between former chief minister Omar Abdullah and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir after the latter put out a tweet criticising Omar Abdullah’s demand for a separate PM for Jammu and Kashmir.
Gautam, who recently joined the BJP, equated Omar’s demand to dreams of walking on oceans and wanting pigs to fly. “More than a separate PM @OmarAbdullah needs some sleep followed by a strong coffee! If he still doesn’t understand then a green Pakistani passport,” he added.
Omar Abdullah hit back at Gautam Gambhir and asked him to stick to things he knows. “You don’t know very much about J&K, its history or the role of @jknc_ in shaping that history yet you insist on displaying that ignorance for all to see. Stick to stuff you know about, tweet about the IPL,” he said in the tweet.
Gautam Gambhir did not take the ‘ignorance’ remark well. He responded with another tweet that said history is always consistent but perspectives are subjective. He also schooled the former CM about ‘selfless governance’.
Omar Abdullah had said that the state had appointed its prime minister and Sadar-i-Riyasat (head of the state) right after Independence. “By the grace of God, we shall bring back these posts,” he said, meaning that Jammu and Kashmir had its own prime minister until 1965.
