The Congress and the BJP are now battling it out the Gully Boy way on Twitter, with raps and all.
On Friday, 8 January, the official Twitter account of the Congress posted their version of the Azadi song from Ranveer-Alia starrer, Gully Boy. The caption reads ‘Darr Ke Aage Azadi (Beyond Fear, There’s Freedom).’
The party has picked parts of the song, like the one that says, “Haan mere bhai hai toh, noto ki sarkar hai na, Note se banate apne beto ko yeh star hai na.”
The corresponding video shows Modi with businessmen Nirav Modi and Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah, whose turnovers are said to have increased under the Modi rule.
The video also attacks the Modi government on issues such as unemployment, demonetisation, lynching, attack on educational institutions, and so on.
If you thought the term Azadi made the BJP uneasy after the JNU episode, you are mistaken. Minutes after the Congress’ Azadi video came out, the BJP’s official Twitter account also sprung into action and posted their cheeky rendition of the song.
Titled Congress Se Azadi, the video attacked the Congress for its dynasty politics mostly. Of course, there were digs at the 2G scam, the Commonwealth scam, the Robert Vadra case and even on the opulent living conditions of the Congress dynasty as well.
While the Congress’s video got around 2,000 retweets, BJP’s Azadi version crossed 6,000 tweets. Whose Azadi rap did you like better?
