Congress social media chief Divya Spandana tweeted an embarrassing error in the BJP’s newly released manifesto that says the government has “made strict provisions for transferring the laws in order to commit crimes against women”.
In the chapter titled ‘Women Empowerment,’ under the section titled ‘Ensuring a Dignified Life for Women’ point number 11 states that “Women’s security will be given more priority. We have constituted the Women’s Security Division in the Home Ministry, and have made strict provisions for transferring the laws in order to commit crimes against women.”
In the same sentence ‘trial for rape’ has been printed as ‘trail for rape’.
Congress’ official Twitter handle also tweeted the error and said, “At least one point in BJP’s Manifesto reflects their true intentions.”
Much of the Twitterati was of the opinion that such a grave error shows that issue wasn’t given much attention in the manifesto.
One Twitter user called it a ‘Freudian slip’.
“Too busy looking for mistakes in Rahul Gandhi’s speeches, but forgot to proofread their own mistakes,” one Twitter user said.
Other spelling errors were also pointed out, like the sentence where ‘Vidyalayas’ were spelled in two different ways in the same sentence. Journalist Vasudha Venugopal said this “shows the manifesto was made in real hurry, in the middle of more imp jobs like operating war rooms and social media armies.”
BJP forgot to run a grammar check or spell check on the manifesto, said Twitterati.
