The man who hurled a shoe at BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao during a press conference at the party headquarters in Delhi on Thursday, 18 April, has been let off by the Delhi Police.
“Nothing incriminating was found from him. No complaint was received against him,” the police said, adding that his motive was to gain media's attention.
The incident took place when Rao was briefing the media over Sadhvi Pragya’s candidature from Bhopal.
The man is reportedly a doctor by the name of Shakti Bhargava, a resident of Kanpur.
Rao Blames Congress for the Incident
In a video shared by ANI, Rao can be heard condemning the incident and blaming the Congress for it. “This is a condemnable action on the part of the Congress party. This is yet another attempt by another Congress inspired person, who comes in here to show the same kind of mentality,” he said. Bhargava, whose identity is yet unknown was seen being escorted out by party workers.
