Exit Poll Results 2022: AAP Likely To Make a Clean Sweep in Punjab

Exit polls predict that the AAP, which had won 20 of the 117 seats in 2017, will form a majority in Punjab.

As a tumultuous election period approaches its end, exit polls released on Monday, 7 March, predicted a massive win for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab.

Most exit polls forecast that the AAP, which had won 20 of the 117 seats in 2017, will form a majority in the border state.

AAP Projected to Make Sweeping Victory With 76-90 Seats: India Today-Axis My India

The India Today-Axis My India exit polls project a sweeping victory for the AAP in Punjab with 76-90 seats, while the Congress is expected to win 19-31.

The Shiromani Akali Dal is projected to win 7-11 seats, while the BJP and its allies may get 1-4 seats, as per the survey.

Punjab has a total of 117 Assembly seats, of which 59 need to be won by a party to form a majority.

As per the India Today-Axis My India exit poll results, 41 percent of voters are projected to have voted for the AAP in Punjab, and 28 percent for the Congress. The SAD has garnered a projected vote share of 19 percent, while the BJP and its allies have got 7 percent of the votes polled.

According to the exit polls, out of the 69 seats in the Malwa region of the Punjab, which is the stronghold of the AAP's CM candidate Bhagwant Mann, the party will win 63 seats.

In Maja, where AAP is traditionally considered weak, it has still managed to stay ahead of the Congress. In the Doaba region, the Congress is ahead of the AAP by 12 to 5, as per the survey.

AAP to Win 51-61 Seats in Punjab: ABP-CVoter

The AAP is expected to win 51-61 seats in Punjab, predicts the ABP-CVoter exit poll survey, while its contender, the Congress is projected to get 22-28 seats.

The SAD may win 20-26 seats, while the BJP is projected to win 7-13 seats.

As per the ABP-CVoter exit poll results, 39 percent of the voters in Punjab are expected to have exercised their franchise in the favour of the AAP, while 27 percent of voters are projected to have favoured the Congress.

AAP May Win Overwhelming Mandate of 100 Seats: News24-Today's Chanakya

The AAP is expected to win the Punjab Assembly elections with a landslide majority of 100 seats, as per the News24-Today's Chanakya exit polls.

Similarly, the Times Now-VETO exit polls survey suggests the AAP is projected to win by a large mandate of 70 seats in the Punjab. The Congress is expected to win 22 seats, while the SAD may win 19 seats, as per the survey.

Meanwhile, the Zee News-DesignBoxed exit polls survey predicts that the AAP may win just sufficient seats to form a majority government.

The party is likely to win 52-61 seats in Punjab, as per the Zee News-DesignBoxed exit polls. The Congress is projected to get 26-33 seats, while the SAD is expected to win 24-32 seats.

'Wait for 10 March': Channi on AAP's Projected Win

Reacting to the decline in Congress' seat share in the exit polls, incumbent Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi said, "The boxes (sealed EVMs) will say what is going to happen. Wait for the 10th of March."

Senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar reiterated Channi's sentiment, saying that the situation will be clear on 10 March once the votes are counted.

Meanwhile, Bhagwant Mann, the AAP's CM candidate for Punjab, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI: "What calculation? We are getting more than 80 seats. They (the rest of the parties that contested Punjab elections) can sit down and calculate among themselves."

"Exit poll results tell us that people of Punjab have overwhelmingly voted for change. People rejected traditional political parties. AAP is now a national and fastest-growing political party. AAP is going to be national and natural replacement of Congress," AAP leader Raghav Chadha was quoted as saying by ANI.

Farmers activist Yogendra Yadav tweeted, "The only firm conclusion that we can draw from exit polls so far is about Punjab. Clearly it's an AAP wave with a thumping majority. Congratulations to the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. Really hope they live up to the huge expectations of the people of Punjab."
