The BJP and the Shiv Sena combine has managed a clean sweep in Maharashtra, winning at least 41 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
The 2019 election result was declared on 23 May.
The Congress, which used to be seen as a big party in the state, has almost been whitewashed and is ahead in only one seat.
From Rahul Gandhi’s “Chowkidar Chor Hai” slogans to Sharad Pawar raising issues of farmer distress, the electorate have rejected all the Opposition arguments and given a clear mandate to the BJP.
Sena MP Sanjay Raut said that people had given a befitting reply to opposition parties who created "an atmosphere of illusion" against Modi over issues such as the Rafale fighter jet deal.
"The entire country is `Modi-may’ (in thrall of Modi)," Raut, who edits the Sena mouthpiece `Saamana', told reporters.
