Thakor Meets Gujarat Deputy CM, Triggers Talk of BJP Entry

Former Congressman and Gujarat OBC leader Alpesh Thakor Monday met Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, triggering speculation that he may join the ruling BJP.

Thakor, the MLA from Radhanpur in Patan district, had quit the Congress before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, on Monday 27 May, said that the day for this year’s Elections Results - 23 May, should be celebrated as ‘Modi Divas’.

“23 May, the day BJP won the elections with a landslide victory, should either be celebrated as Modi Divas or Lok Kalyan Divas,” he said.

Naveen Patnaik Invites Modi to His Swearing-In Ceremony

Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leaders of different political parties to his swearing-in ceremony scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, party sources said on Monday.

Patnaik will take oath as the chief minister for fifth time in a row at 10.30 am on Wednesday.

"A special message has been sent to Delhi to invite the Prime Minister for the swearing-in ceremony of the new government in Odisha," sources in the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) said.

Gujarat MLA Alpesh Thakor Meets Deputy CM Nitin Patel

Gujarat MLA Alpesh Thakor held a meeting with state Deputy CM Nitin Patel on Monday, as the rumours continued to circulate that he may join the BJP.

However, Thakor has denied the rumours, saying the meeting was over issues in his constituency, reported The Indian Express.
