Voting for the first phase of 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections ended at 5 pm. 89 seats across 19 districts went to polls in the state on Thursday, 1 December. Voting for second phase will be conducted on 5 December.
The highest turnouts have been recorded in Narmada and Tapi at 64% and 63.98% respectively.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Thursday to urge people to vote in large numbers, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, who is touting his party as the main Opposition in the state, urged people to vote for the "future of their children."
The state, which previously witnessed a contest between the BJP and Congress has seen the introduction of AAP as the third big player.
