As the counting of votes is underway for the Lok Sabha elections for the 542 seats that went to polls, BJP is leading in more than 300 of them. Many political leaders took to Twitter to congratulate the winning team.
One of the first leaders to congratulate Modi was National Conference leader Omar Abdullah.
“Credit where credit is due PM Modi Sahib and Mr Amit Shah put together a winning alliance and a very professional campaign,” he tweeted.
This was accompanied by a tweet by PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti who said, “Time for Congress to get an Amit Shah.”
Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje also took to the social media platform to extend congratulations.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted congratulations with a twist. She was of the view that nothing can be said until the entire process is completed.
“We have to do a complete review and then we will share our views with you all. Let the counting process be completed fully and the VVPATs matched,” she tweeted.
Former Union minister MJ Akbar said “dynasty has destroyed Congress”.
