The Election Commission, once again, barred Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan from campaigning for 48 hours on Tuesday, 30 April, for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the the ongoing election campaign.
According to a notice issued by the EC, Khan was found guilty of “making objectionable comments” against poll authorities during a rally in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.
This is the second time Khan has been barred from campaigning. Earlier, on 16 April, the EC had barred the SP leader from campaigning for 72 hours for making objectionable comments against actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada.
