A few years ago, I got a number from the radio for RJ training. I went for an audition this year. I got selected. I have got a scholarship seat too. Now, I’m worried if it is fake. I enquired but there are some contradictory points. And there are only weekend classes for a certificate course. Should I join? Kindly guide me.Nehali, a Reader of The Quint
Dear Nehali,
It is difficult for us to ascertain if this course is fake or not. Before you join, you must read about the course online and try and get in touch with people who have trained from there. Or get in touch with those who will start training with you. Just a suggestion, you should try and apply for popular radio channels (such as All India Radio) so that there is no possibility of any fraud.

My son has recently completed 12th standard with commerce steam (with Math) from CBSE, with 97.80% (overall) and best four of 98.50%. As we are currently residing in Punjab, what will be the best option for further studies? He has an offer letter from University Of Toronto (for BCom), and Kings University College affiliated with Western University-Canada (Business Management including Accounting and Finance). But per year expenditure at UoT is Rs 35 lakh approximately (Total Course expenditure is about Rs 1.50 crore) and at Kings College is Rs 20 lakh (total expenditure of the course is approximately Rs 80 lakh). He can also get admission in top DU colleges such as SRCC, Hansraj College or Hindu college. What will the best option: to complete graduation in India and then go abroad for studies? Or to go abroad now to study at above mentioned Canadian universities to complete BCom. Kindly consider the cost factor too.Sanjay Aggarwal, a Reader at The Quint
Dear Sir,
First of all, congratulations on your child’s fabulous result. In my opinion, if there is a financial constraint at this point of time, the better option is to go for undergraduate studies – BCom (Hons) from University of Delhi, and then later go abroad for an MBA or Master’s course. As you said, there are bright chances of landing into a top BCom college at DU on the basis of the Class XII marks. If your son maintains his academic record in college too, he will also have the option to apply for scholarships in India as well abroad.
I want do BCOM computer. Is it a degree course or professional? If I do it what type of job will I get?Englesh Kumar, a Reader of The Quint
Hi,
BCom Computer is not a course. If you wish to pursue a degree in computers, you can consider a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering or BTech in Information Technology. These are four-year courses that require you to take the JEE Main exam in order to take admission in central affiliated colleges. Click here to read about the difference between BTech and BCA.
If you have not appeared for the JEE Mains, you can register for Bachelors of Computer Application (BCA). This is also a degree course that is three years long. You can get job opportunities in the software development, website designing, data entry, technical support and other such fields. You will get better job opportunities if you pursue BCA followed by Masters of Computer Applications (MCA). Click here to know more about job opportunities after BCA.
My brother has cleared his HSC from Mumbai with 72 percent from the science branch and 116 marks in MHT-CET. He is interested in Biology and wants to do something in this field. We are awaiting his NEET exam results. RTequest you to give some guidance on what the further approach should be. We also want to point out that we are financially weak.Khalid Khan, a Reader of The Quint
Hi Khalid,
116 is a decent score in MHT CET and your brother can try his luck at an engineering college affiliated to the state government. Since he is interested in biology, BTech in Biotechnology or Biochemical is something that will add value to his career. A government college will offer courses that are relatively more affordable than private colleges. Click here to learn more about the scope of biotechnology and job opportunities in this field.
Pharmacy is another bright career option. This link contains all details regarding courses in pharmacy.
Although it is not directly related to the medical field, maybe your brother would be interested in degrees like BSc in Botany, Zoology and Agriculture. They are courses that have good scope if he wants to become a lecturer. He can apply for government jobs and also foray into the research field after pursuing MSc. I am currently pursuing my 12 grade in the science stream with Computer science. I would like to take a degree in Mass Communication after my high school. However, I am highly concerned about the scope of this field. Should I take a computer related degree first and then do my further studies in mass media, just to be on the safer side?Rajni Jose, a Reader of The Quint
Dear Rajni,
See, you have two options, and what you are interested in shall determine your choice. If you have a keen interest in the field of Mass Communication, then it is a better option to pursue it right from the graduation level. It is not that students from a Science background cannot shift to an Arts stream.
