Movie Releases This Week: Watch Indu Sarkar, Raag Desh in Cinemas

‘Indu Sarkar’, inspired by the Emergency, will be releasing this week alongside Anil Kapoor’s ‘Mubarakan’!

Here’s a look at Bollywood movies releasing this Friday:

1. Indu Sarkar

Director: Madhur Bhandarkar
Star Cast: Neil Nitin Mukesh, Supriya Vinod, Kirti Kulhari, Anupam Kher

Indu Sarkar, a film loosely based on Emergency as a backdrop (as Bhandarkar has admitted to it being 70% fiction and 30% fact) imposed by former prime minister Indira Gandhi between 1975 and 1977 is set to hit the theatres on 28 July 2017. Unsurprisingly though, Indu Sarkar has hit a wrong chord with the Congress party which has expressed strong reservations against the movie.

2. Mubarakan

Director: Anees Bazmee
Star Cast: Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D'Cruz, Athiya Shetty

Mubarakan marks the coming together of uncle-nephew duo Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor. The real life relationship between the two translates in reel life as well with Anil playing chacha to Arjun. The twist in the tale is Arjun’s double role with his characters named Karan and Charan. Of course, there is dance, drama and romance. In Anil Kapoor’s words, “Don't go by our innocent faces! The Chacha - Bhatija(s) are up to no good! Wait for #28thJuly to know the full story!”

3. Raag Desh

Director: Tigmanshu Dhulia
Star Cast: Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Mohit Marwah, Vijay Verma

Touted to be a period drama set against India’s Independence struggle, Raag Desh is based on the Indian National Army set up by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the freedom struggle that ensued. At the heart of the plot is the chronicling of the Red Fort Trials of 1945, which was instrumental in India’s long struggle for freedom. Dhulia’s Raag Desh attempts to unfurl before the viewers a relatively unknown chapter from India’s hard-fought freedom struggle.
