It’s almost 30 years since the release of Maine Pyar Kiya, the film which launched Salman Khan to superstardom and introduced us to the quintessential girl-next-door Bhagyashree. Now, it’s Bhagyashree’s son, Abhimanyu Dassani, who’s all set to make his Bollywood debut in a film titled Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota, which will be produced by Anurag Kashyap and directed by Vasan Bala.
The film is being touted as a quirky action comedy and will launch Abhimanyu with another new face Radhika Madan. Besides these two newcomers, Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota will also star Tamil actor Vijay Sethupati.
Vasan has written a superbly funny and kick ass martial arts film, the likes of which I have neither read nor seen. It’s so local and so new that you can’t help but marvel at it. And I am glad I get to produce it. We at Phantom, hope it becomes a never before seen franchise with these maddeningly crazy characters.Anurag Kashyap
This will be Vasan’s second film, his directorial debut Peddlers was screened at Cannes in 2012, but did not get a mainstream release.
