Two White House officials played a role in providing House of Representatives Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes with documents showing President Donald Trump and his associates were swept up in surveillance by US intelligence agencies, the New York Times reported on Thursday.

One was 32-year old Michael Ellis, a White House counsel attorney who who works on national security issues at the White House Counsel’s office. He had worked for Nunes prior to the Trump administration. The second person was identified as 30-year-old Ezra Cohen-Watnick, the Senior Director for intelligence at the National Security Council.

Recently, Trump overruled an order to fire Ezra, reports said.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer declined to comment on the details of the report during a briefing on Thursday.
