Are you one of those men who grow their beard unabashedly during Movember? If yes, then it’s time you got your Mo look right. Read on.

What is Movember all about

For the uninitiated, Movember is a portmanteau of ‘mo’, short for moustache, and ‘November’. It’s a worldwide annual event where men grow their moustaches during the month of November with the objective of raising awareness on topics surrounding men’s health. However, somewhere down the line, the desire to look ‘cool’ and the hunger for social media validation has diluted the true spirit of Movember. Most men use it as an excuse to let their facial hair run wild and don’t focus on the moustache part of it at all. At the end of it, all you get is a bunch of clones.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say then that Movember in its current form is a disservice to what it actually stands for – men’s health issues.

Do Movember differently

The month has just begun. So here’s your chance to own Movember this time round. Follow this 5-point checklist and do Movember differently:

1. Read up on the real objective of Movember so you know what it really symbolises. Get your friends as well to do this. Once you do this, you will stop blindly aping others.

2.Don’t hanker after social media validation. Yes, you can put up your pictures and let your friends and followers know, but let it not be only about that. Remember, Movember is much bigger than all this.

3. Pick up that razor. Surprised? You needn’t be. Movember doesn’t mean staying away from the razor. It’s a good idea to groom your facial hair from time to time through the month.

4. Donate how ever much possible for a charity working towards men’s health. That’s how it all started and this is where the real spirit of Movember lies.

5. Create your own Movember look so you don’t end up being another clone. Style your facial hair the way you want and stand out from the rest.

So be different this time and embrace Movember in its truest spirit!
