In yet another case of a murderous assault after stalking, a 34-year-old woman died after being stabbed multiple times by her stalker at MG Road Metro station in Gurugram on Monday.
Pinki Devi, who hails from Meghalaya was entering the metro premises on Monday morning when the accused Jintendra lunged at her and stabbed her in the neck. The 24-year-old Auto driver was caught by CISF personnel after rattled commuters raised an alarm. Pinki was rushed to a local hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Local Police suspect it to be a crime of passion and are now investigating the case. Reports say the victim’s husband had already warned the attacker as the 34-year-old victim had complained about his advances to her husband.
Reports also say the auto-rickshaw driver used to regularly ferry the victim to the Metro station while on her way to the beauty parlour where she worked.
Monday’s incident bears an eerie resemblance to the Burari killing, where a young man stabbed a girl on the streets in broad day light. Here too, the accused had failed to establish a romantic relationship with the victim. CCTV footage of the incident had then gone viral on the web, sparking a major row over the weak anti-stalking laws in the country.
