Yakub Memon, convicted for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, was hanged at around 7 am at the Nagpur Central Jail. Memon’s body was handed over to his family in Nagpur, from where it was flown in to Mumbai and taken straight to his Mahim residence. The city was on high alert as the convoy zipped through.
