There’s more than one way to sing and dance to Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ than what you’ve been doing so far. A bunch of kids at the Noida Deaf Society show you just how!

Dancing to the addictive song (which has been viewed over 62 crore times on YouTube), the group uses the increasingly popular Indian Sign Language to express themselves.

The idea behind this was very simple, says the Society.

This video was made to influence perceptions and bring about a positive change in how deaf people are viewed here. 99% of the people starring in this video are 100% deaf. Yet, they can feel the vibrations and many turned out to be excellent dancers! They also “sign” the lyrics of the song using Indian Sign Language, which is now becoming popular in India

Through this video, the Society claims that it wants to “spread the word about Indian deaf people and their potential to excel and lead productive, fulfilling lives.”

The video was conceptualised and directed by Stanley Rego.
