Late actor Vinod Mehra’s son Rohan Mehra is all set to make his Bollywood debut in Nikkhil Advani’s Baazaar, also starring Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Chitrangada Singh. Growing up away from Bollywood and India, Rohan never knew what it was like to be a star kid. He grew up in Mombasa, East Africa and he never knew he will end up in the film industry, like his father.

It will surprise you to know that Rohan wanted to be an investment banker and went to college to study but later realised that it was not his calling.

I actually wanted to be an investment banker, and funnily enough, I’m playing a stock broker in Baazaar, so in a way you know I guess it worked out, in a twisted way.

But the funny part was that when he was approached for a film (which never released) no one knew he was Vinod Mehra’s son. He did everything a struggling actor trying to make it big in the industry does - running from pillar to post giving auditions to getting rejected left, right and centre - he has gone through it all. Even for Baazaar it was he who approached Nikkhil Advani for the role.

I read that Nikkhil Advani was making this film called Baazaar and I went up to Nikkhil sir, which was not an easy task because he doesn’t like that people go up to him. He knew me for a while and was like, “Rohan what are you doing here?”. And I was like, “Sir, I read that you are doing this film called Baazaar.” He said, “Get out of my office, I’m not considering newcomers. Go!.” And he slammed the door.

Check out the full interview to know how Rohan Mehra finally bagged his debut film, Baazaar.
